On 8 May 2025 the World Lebanese Cultural Union (WLCU) of Sydney in conjunction with the WLCU Sydney Foundation Ltd, presented its Annual HSC Distinguished Achievers Awards to our Australian Lebanese youth who have achieved outstanding results in the 2024 Higher School Certificate (HSC) and International Baccalaureate as well as in their extracurricular activities, including in community service, leadership, sports and the arts. Sydney, along with New South Wales and Melbourne, has recently embarked on “re-opening” after several months in a covid-induced lockdown. At this time, it seems fitting to reflect on the much-loved, famous Lebanese traditional dance which is an essential component in many happy gatherings and celebrations.
The history of Lebanese wines dates back over 5,000 years with recent archaeological discoveries documenting its history and trade by the Phoenicians. Lebanon’s wines are also world-renowned with its leading wine, Chateau Musar, winning many awards and recently named in the top ten admired wine brands in the world. We have secured the 2012 vintage for this year’s En Route to Beirut gala dinner.
