Meet the the WLCU Sydney Committee who endeavour to serve the Lebanese Diaspora in Sydney.

DR SHANE GEHA
President 

Career:
Dr Shane Geha is an Engineer, Property Manager; Rezoning Expert; Property and Fund Manager; Founded 28 Companies; sits on Inst Engineers Board; UDIA; UNSW Dean’s Committee; Professor at UNSW and Lecturer at UNSW and Sydney University; International Lecturer in City Making.
Interesting Fact:
Dr Geha loves jogging and has completed 19 City to Surfs and 3 Half Marathons; he is a Toastmasters public speaking champion 97 times, including 18 State Titles; Dr Geha loves Cricket.
Town/village of Lebanese origin:
Both parents were born in Bishmezzine El-Koura (neighbouring village of Dr Charles Malik)

Hrisi and Sheikh El Mihshi

GEORGE BOUSAMRA
Vice President

Career:
George is a Marketing Consultant with a focus on lead generation and strategic partnerships both locally and internationally.
Interesting Fact:
George likes to garden, particularly bringing the splendours of the great outdoors indoors and helping people with their own gardening journey.
Town/village of Lebanese origin:
Aarjes, North Lebanon
Favourite Lebanese dish:
Mujadara with extra salt

PETRA FAKHRY
Secretary 

Career:
Petra was born and bred in Melbourne Victoria, and she completed a Business Studies Degree at RMIT. She recently retired from the NSW Attorney General’s Department where she worked for 28 years in the Local and District Courts.
Interests:
In Petra’s spare time she volunteers at her local Community Centre. She is a Carlton Football supporter and she loves being a grandmother of 4 young children and with her husband Mansour.

RICHARD MELKI
Treasurer 

Career:
Richard is a banker, Hedge Fund Manager and more recently CFO for a not-for-profit aged care organisation.
Interests:
Richard is a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia and New Zealand (2001 to 2020) and Active member of the Bronte Surf Lifesaving Club.
Town/ village of Lebanese origin:
Both parents were born in Bishmezzine El-Koura (neighbouring village of Dr Charles Malik).

LAUDY FARAH AYOUB
Committee Member 

Career: 
Laudy studied a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Language and Linguistics. She has an extensive career in banking and is a small business owner.
Interest:
Laudy is the Treasurer and Board member of Maronite Catholic society and she is politically active in Australia and Lebanon. Laudy strives to work hard for the betterment of the community in Australia and send support to the people of Lebanon.

PAUL SHALHOUB
Committee Member

Career:
Paul is an investment Adviser and has worked 34 years  in financial markets in both Australia and New York.
Interests:
Paul enjoys cooking, travel and gardening
Town/ village of Lebanese origin:
Douma on Paul’s father’s side (Batroun District) and Btourram (Dr Charles Malik’s village) on his mother’s side (Koura District)
Favourite Lebanese Dish:
Too many – but Warra Enib is right up there!

CHANTELLE FARAH
Committee Member 

Career:
Chantelle is a Submissions Manager at a construction company with a BA Communications (Media and Informatics) at UTS and International Politics at Macquarie University.
Interests:
Chantelle is a third generation Manly Sea Eagles supporter

Hasroun, North Lebanon

Is Toum classified as a “dish”?

MIRIAM KHOURY
Committee Member 
Editor of the WLCU Newsletter Editorial Team

Career:
Miriam has a Bachelor of Education (Primary) from ACU and a Diploma in Speech and Drama teaching from Trinity College London. She is currently the Coordinator for Speech and Drama at Ascham School.
Interests:
Miriam is one of 9 children, she enjoys the arts and has been known to dabble in the Latin dance scene.

Barhaloun, North Lebanon
